YOU WANT THAT OLD THING?

Sometimes you don't realize you have something valuable to someone until it is casually mentioned. We were at Tucks for our weekly Euchre session when the subject of our reel to reel tape recorder came up. It has been gathering dust in our garage for years with us thinking that the modern conveniences of computers and other devices made the reel to reel obsolete. Not so! Today our two sons let us know that they would like to have it and bring it into the modern world. They can actually hear their grandfather Rev William Goebel Milller and their uncle Rev Frederick Alden Miller preach the word. They can hear my baby sister Janice Rohrer Harvey give her testimony. They can hear their Grandmother and Grandfather Clyde and Buelah Bailey Rohrer sing together. Grandpa had a couple of kids songs he did for fun and playing his harmonica was special to everyone. They can hear their dad Harvey Miller sing Family OF God at Galloway Chapel Miller day and hear my poem Galloway Chapel read to the congregation. Aunt Eva and Uncle Ramon singing at Miller day. The old Chapel is gone but the poem is hanging on the wall in the private home where the Chapel once stood. The poem is also in the archives of Western Indiana Poets Corner. As for the old reel to reel recorder it has found a new home. It will be at Greg and Billies and Greg and Tuck can enjoy listening.

I will do my best to record all the audio files with my IPOD, and then transfer them to my computer. Should be fun.

I also have some old photos of Aunt Linne with Aunt Cora and Grandma Miller with some other family matters. One thing I like about them is they were taken in a public place, so I do not need permission to publish them if I don't name them.

Hey I wouldn't mind having a copy of that too. Especially with my mom and dad singing on it.

I think you can guess the answer I would give you on that one....have you ever heard the phrase...what goes around, comes around?

I am all for preserving family history. I am looking forward in listening to my Grandfather preach. I am sure there are things on there that you had no idea was there. I am hoping Tuck can preserve this audio so we can enjoy them for our remaining years and for those who will appreciate it in years to come.
