THE LORDS DAY

SUNDAY...The first day of the week on the calendar. It is the Lords Day. It is the day we attend church. We used to get up early and go to the first service but recently we have been attending the 11:00 AM service. Does God require you to attend church? I don't think so. Can you pray and worship outside of a church building? Of course. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car. I have heard that old saying many times and I believe it. My uncle communed with God at the end of a fishing pole. He said the Bible says The Lords Day is the day of rest and to him rest was on the banks of a river or near a dam with the sounds of nature all around him. I enjoy sitting in church with my Brothers and Sisters in Christ listening to hymns of worship and being instructed with a stirring message from my Pastor.I may soon have to be absent from the church building itself. I may be listening on the radio or watching a TV minister or I might be lying in a hospital bed or a nursing home unable to hear a message of encouragement.I might be home not wanting to leave my husband home alone . So, in essence what I am believing in my heart is this. The church is not the place of worship. Your heart and mind are the place of worship.
