FAREWELL TO MY BROTHER

Today,  June 25th, 2012 will be remembered for the celebration of the life of LARRY JOE HARVEY. I call him my 6th brother.  Above is a picture taken in 1971 just before Tuck left for the US NAVY. These are the men of the family. I am trying to figure out why Greg and Robin are not in the picture. Those pictured are Front row kneeling are my dad Clyde Rohrer followed by my brothers Tom., Bob and Danny. Standing in the back are Rick SR, Larry Joe Harvey, Tuck Miller, Harvey MIller and my brother Bill Rohrer. My sister Janice called Janny and Larry Harvey were married December 18, 1965.My mom would tell people both of her daughters married ministers sons named Harvey. Larrys dad was Rev Jim harvey. Harveys dad was Rev William Goebel Miller .Jan died Nov 19, 1987 of breast cancer. They have three children Kima, Layne and Scotty Joe. Scotty Joe said today they had to take the girls but he was special because he was "chosen".Others came to the mike and one was Jake, Kimas husband who said "I was shaking in my boots when I asked BIG LARRY for his daughters hand in marriage. he said looking up at this big Bear of a man and his 5"3 small frame seemed so inadequate. He said Larry told him "All I ask of you is to love her as much as I loved her mother" Some of the remarks from farther back could not be heard in the front by the family. One man told how Larry was his mentor and he talked about Larrys influence on his life., Then he played his saxaphone. At the dinner after where the fun and memories began to flow this man said Larry would tease him and tell him ":Go toot your horn"  The gravesite message was so uplifting. Larry was buried in Mt Olive Cemetery beside my sister. Beverly said she will be buried beside her first husband just about 6 graves north of Jan and Larry. I thought that was so fitting. They met and then found out that they would be buried so close together. We just didn't expect it to be so soon. When we went back to the church it was really the highlight of the day.! The atmosphere was so different.  We were able to laugh at Larrys jokes . Yes, there were still tears but it was a very nice tribute . I could hear things at the different tables. REST IN PEACE LITTLE BROTHER...
