A PERSONAL INVITATION TO ALL ! ! !

I am extending a personal invitation to each and every one of my friends.
Oh well, even if you aren't my friend you are invited. The Westville Library is featuring my SMILEY FACE COLLECTION during the months of July and August. I am very delighted and very fortunate to have the nicest daughter-in-love in the world. Beth Ann Miller came to Westville to help put them on display. She and others put them in glass cases. They looked so nice when they were finished.I didn't have to do a thing. Then,....they asked me to write a biography of how the collection started, and then something about my life. So, I thought it would make a good blog subject . My collection began over 30 years ago at Lincoln Lanes Bowling Alley in Danville. Back then they used paper sheets to record the bowling scores. If a team made all strikes and spares the team captain would put a star * on the top of the sheet. When my team did it I put a smiley face. The next week someone brought me a smiley face pot holder. Soon I was getting smiley face gifts. My little grandaughter (Beth & Robin's Tabitha) was fascinated with them. Every time she saw one in a store she wanted to buy it for Grandma. One day Beth told her "Let's tell Grandma about this one". Beth told me Tabitha had to have the smiley face toast imprinter so she could have smiley toast every morning for breakfast. I wonder if she has smiley toast now that she is a student at Eastern University in Charleston and a Certified Nurses Aide. One day we came home and found a complete set of dishes on our front porch with no note. It was over a year before we found out friends from Tennessee had left them. She had casually asked me if I got them. I told her there was no note. My friend Donna Longer goes to Florida where she found a store that sells nothing but smiley face articles. She brings me big package of them when she comes back to Danville. Harvey says "STOP" She just gives him the raspberry sound. I use the smileys for party decorations and banquet centerpieces. I wish I had tagged each of them. In the rest of the biography I said "In my other life" I am an active member of Ridgeview Baptist Church, bowl in the Senior Citizen league at Lincoln Lanes, am a 24 year PUSMC volunteer, member ot TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) that meets at the Westville Library on Wed evenings. I love to read and play euchre with friends several times a week. have been married to Harvey who is a retired Danville Firefighter.
We will have 55 years in August. 3 sons, 2 daughters, over 20 foster
children, 10 grands and still counting greats.
