LIFE'S GREATEST GIFT

Pondering over the gifts of life and I thought "what do I treasure the most in my life.?" I didn't have to think long before I knew what I would choose. FRIENDS...My first friend, my best friend is my husband, The mate God chose for me 55 years ago. Even the ups and downs of married life was like a merry-go-round. I could say a cross word was never spoken between us. I could say that but it wouldn't be true. There were cabinet doors slammed, angry looks, and yes even threats to leave on both of our parts. Now that is all in the past. Smooth sailing from here after. I doubt it but we agree to disagree and move on.The other friends are not just people we call friends in passing. You know the ones I mean. The ones at church , and the bowling alley and the other organizations we belong to. Yes, they are our friends but the people I refer to as our special friends. I won't name them but there is one that asked me to babysit her precious little boy while she was in the hospital. She had read something in the paper about me being a foster mother and she knew one of my friends. When she asked her about me, the friend said you couldn't have a better person take care of your little one. Later she wrote me a letter and said so many nice things. That was over 30 years ago. I put the letter aside to be read at my funeral. Then there is my friend I can tell everything to and it stays between her ears.We call it "sister stuff" We used to be in a group at church called "Sisters' where everything was confidential. I miss those days but I am glad that one sister and I still share. Then I have some pretty special friends in my TOPS family that understand about my ups and downs in my weight struggle. Mostly ups, They encourage me . Then we
have friends we like to go to country western shows with . One couple we play cards with every Friday afternoon and also go out to eat on our birthdays, and anniversaries. He is a great grill cook and they have us over for BBQ and he also makes a mean pot of Chili we enjoy. We also have friends that we think have the cutest, and smartest grandchildren. Their daughter married our son so we share those cute, smart grandchildren! Yes, no doubt about it , God gave us the gift of friends and we thank Him for each one.
