I love old stories and even better old pictures! In the picture above left to right are Hazel Bailey Parker, my mom Buelah Bailey Rohrer, her younger sister Helen Bailey Phillips, and her next to oldest sister Loreene Bailey Hickman. My mom, Aunt Helen and Aunt Rene grew up together not aware they had a sibling until Hazel came to Danville to meet her dad and stepmother and her sisters and brothers. My grandfather Carl Bailey had been married before and his wife died and her parents wanted to help raise his little girl. So, Grandpa Carl moved back to Champaign and I am not sure just how long it was before he met Nellie Lucinda Groves. My mom said my grandmother did not want her children to know about Hazel so she didn't tell them. I don't know how long ago Hazel first came to Danville to meet them but I do know my Grandfather Carl Bailey died in 1935 shortly after my first birthday. I have one more picture that I can post but have several others that are not available.
