GOOD OLD DAYS

Years ago back in the 70's we still lived on Franklin Street in Danville. I became acquainted with Ramona Kester through her mom Lucille Harper. Ramona lived on Robinson street.  We became "phone friends" and would talk sometimes over an hour.  She one day asked me if I could suggest a middle name for her baby if it was a boy.  I knew they were avid INDY 500 race fans and suggested Mario for a race driver. I knew she had selected TROY as a first name to go with Todd her first son.  So when I heard she had a baby boy I knew his name was going to be TROY MARIO KESTER. What I didn't know was how he would be special in my life.  When my brother-in-law Larry Harvey stepped into Heaven, TROY became my aide.  I was on a walker at the time and it was very hard for me to get around with it. Troy stepped in and open doors, helped me down hallways and stairs and he even asked me at the dinner if I wanted anything brought to me. Then he walked me to the car . Now he and his mom Ramona Logan are on Facebook and are my friends.  Troy is not just any friend but a very special one.  He has earned the title! Monie is a very important part of my life...feel as if we are related, altho, I know we are not biologically. We are in Christ tho. Troy and I have a long history, and I consider him a very good friend. 1st got to know Troy when he was in my Royal Ranger group back in the early 80's. Lost touch with him while in San Diego, but renewed our friendship when I came back to Danville in 2009.

This was a fun blog to do. It brought back a lot of memories of when Monie and I would talk on the phone almost every day for over an hour. Then years later when I met Troy again and he was so kind hearted and helped a "little old lady" like boy scouts do. Then they both came out to Tucks 60th Birthday Party and that added "icing on the cake" so to speak!
