DOWN MEMORY LANE
Sometimes my thought go back to when I was about 12 years old and want to remember being at FAMILY REUNIONS, Especially BAILEY REUNIONS when my mom and her sisters would get together with all of their kids. Sometimes it was at one of the sisters houses, or a park. While going through some pictures I came across these of The BAILEY GIRLS. It wasn't until the year I was born that my mom found out she had an older sister. My grandfather had been married before and his wife died and her parents wanted to raise the little girl. Her name was Hazel. Some say that my grandmother didn't want any reminder that her husband was married before. One day in 1934 young Hazel came to Danville to meet her family. My grandfather was happy. My mom and her sisters were shocked. In later years they would meet together. These are the BAILEY GIRLS....HAZEL BAILEY PARKER who lived in Kenny Illinois and raised Gladiolas to sell to flower shops and for funerals. I can't look at one without remembering the fields beside her house. She and her husband Mason Sumner Parker had a restaurant called Parker Cafe.Next in age is LOREENE BAILEY HICKMAN. BUELAH BAILEY ROHRER, and HELEN BAILEY PHILLIPS. There were 4 more children. Loren and Margaret who died in infancy and Floyd who died in World War2 and was buried in the Coral Sea near Australia and Gail Hilton Bailey. Here are the birth dates and death dates of the Bailey Girls.
