BRADLEY DARREN MILLER

It actually happened. I had just given birth and my Doctor asked me what we were going to name our new baby and I said BRADLEY DARREN. He said "You can't do that!" well, Pete Hetherington was a joker and I said Yes we can. He said "IT'S A GIRL!" I opened my eyes and said "let me tell Harvey myself." Dr Pete said 'No he has heard  her cry and know she is here so we'll send a nurse out. Do you have a name for a little girl.?" I looked at the nurse and said "Tell him CHANNA Is here"  I carefully pronounced the name because when I had told people what we had picked for a girl they had never heard it before. It was a family name. My cousin CHANA MAE PARKER died of pneumonia when she was 16 and I had always said I would name my little girl for her> so I pronounced it SHAWNA as the Irish would call a little colleen.There was  Rabbi that lived behind us on Walnut street and he came to visit and meet her. He said that it was Jewish for Hannah. Channa still has problems even now as people pronounce her name as Shainna, and even SHONNA as if it was pronounced as in DONNA. She said she is used to it by now. Our daughter Brenda wanted to name her baby after her mother-in-law IMOGENE AMANDA MARING and just use the Amanda but AMANDA CHANNA didn't sound good together so I suggested SHAWN as a middle name so AMANDA SHAWN MARING TABELS it is ! HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHANNA !
