I have mentioned before that I was going to join the WAVES in June 1952 after I graduated from DHS but met Harvey in Feb. Our first date was FEB 29th. he proposed on APRIL 1. We were married Aug 17th.
I had always thought I had cheated the US NAVY. Then Tuck joined in 1971 right after he graduated from DHS. He saw the world by going through the Eastern part of the world and also the Western part. Then Greg joined and donned the familiar uniform but didn't wear it after boot camp. He called me one day and told me he was being sent to Nantucket Mass. I looked it up and told him it was an Island in the Atlantic ocean. He was assigned to the Commisary and the other men thought he was a civilian until the last day and he appeared in his uniform. Well ,now both Tuck and Greg have been honored here in their hometown of Danville Illinois. Greg has been on the list for some time but now his older brother will join him on the Vererans List in the Danville Illinois Court House.. Tuck will be listed as HARVEY WILLIAM MILLER,JR and Greg is listed as GREGORY CLYDE MILLER. . Now I have paid my debt to the NAVY. I still wonder who "accidently" brought home a US NAVY FORK.
